Part of the the Reframing Home Exhibition.
This was taken on one of the photowalks in the LX Factory area. The whole photowalk was a bit of a disaster, it was raining a lot, the area – while probably really interesting back in the day, has become extremely commercialised with stores and overpriced restaurants, and I ended up taking almost no good photos that day. That was until I saw a couple of friends sitting in a marquee outside a cafe playing cards in the rain. I shot this photo through the plastic material of the marquee and the rain added texture and distortion to the photo which gave it a certain look and character. This scene was evocative of a home/cosy feeling to an otherwise miserable day.
