We are Frame Composure Society – a collective of 11 passionate photographers, ten of whom have come to Lisbon from different corners of the world, and one who calls this city home. Our journey began in 2024 after another photowalk through Lisbon streets. At first we gather to talk about street photography and share our images. And at some point inspired by the sense of possibility we felt that we could and should make a collective exhibition, that would share our feelings and visions of what Lisbon is through our eyes, souls and lenses.
Each member of the group brings a unique cultural perspective, lived experience, and visual approach. Though our backgrounds differ, from the USA, Greece, Chile, Belarus, India, the UK, and Portugal, we share passion for photography and a desire to tell stories that are both personal and universal. Many of us arrived in Lisbon as strangers and for various reasons and we searched for connection and belonging in an unfamiliar city.
Our debut exhibition, “Reframing Home,” is a free, open invitation to experience Lisbon through fresh eyes. We invite you to join us and see the city through images tracing the emotional arc of arrival, cultural discovery, isolation, mindfulness, and ultimately, belonging. As we navigate the complexities of immigration, change and homecoming we hope our work encourages you to look beyond appearances and consider how memory, identity and community are continuously reframed in a changing world.
Through our lenses and stories we aim to offer both locals and newcomers a chance to pause, reflect and find something familiar – or entirely new – in the heart of Lisbon.
